Business Type: Legal Firm
Project Number: 2472
Project: Trainee Conveyancer/Office Support
A legal firm specialising and dedicated in conveyancing is looking to expand its team of 10 staff. This new firm was established in September 2008 and is headed up by two Directors with extensive legal experience, one in which is a well known adviser of conveyancing for both media and guest lectures.
The firm has found that recruiting graduates after their LPC has not been effective and therefore are trying a new method of recruiting. Therefore they are aiming to recruit two students who are studying the LLB or one graduate with a qualifying law degree. Therefore it is certainly not a requirement to have studied or even intend to study the LPC.
The firm does not offer training contracts and instead hire with the intention of investing into the career of their staff and developing them into conveyancers. Therefore to begin with you will start in an office support based role and learn about the firm and working in a legal office, which can differ from some perceptions.
To begin with, 50% of the role will be telephone based. You will be the first point of contact for clients (often estate agents) calling into the business and you will need to be able to answer basic questions and direct them to the most appropriate member of staff. The rest of your time will be dealing with the administrative aspect of conveyencing which will include post completion/scheduling work
Previous experience of working in an office will be advantageous but certainly not essential. What is essential is that you have an excellent telephone manner and the confidence to communicate with a wide variety of people.
The office is open from 9am- 6pm and therefore they cover for 31 hours per week. Therefore if two current students are chosen they will need to negotiate working times to ensure they have phone cover at the appropriate time, and each student will work 16 hours per week. If a graduate applies, you may apply for a 16 hours role or a 31 hour role. Starting salary will be £6 per hour.
This position is based in a modern building on the Team Valley, Gateshead. Free parking is available. This is an urgent vacancy as the firm hope to recruit into these roles asap. Therefore if you are interested and keen to develop a career within the legal field, please apply today!! Please note: it is essential for you to be studying or have studied law.
