A local number plate reseller is looking to recruit either a part-time student or graduate [current students may work up to 16 hours per week and graduates may work full or part-time depending on their commitments]. The successful applicant must be able to maintain and construct data-driven web sites. The ability to work with a range of web disciplines such as development, design, graphic creation and content management, is paramount.
Preferably the company is looking for someone who has at least one year’s commercial experience developing web sites using PHP and MySQL. However the company are willing to interview students who have the aptitude to learn on the job, so the applicant may be a hobbyist PHP coder, or have some skills in PHP and MySQL. The applicant must be able to work independently and with the small office-based team, and external companies and freelancers. Good communication is necessary to present ideas and take requirements for development projects. The successful student/graduate will possess:
* HTML + CSS.
* PHP and MySQL.
* XML.
* photoshop and basic design skills.
* Search engine optimisation and marketing techniques would be advantageous.
* Search engine analysis experience using Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools would be advantageous.
Must be an undergraduate in a multimedia or computer science degree, preferably with good GCSE's in English and Maths + A Level experience. At least one years' experience in a commercial web environment is preferable, but not essential.
The role will primarily involve the maintenance an existing web site, which has been developed in PHP and MySQL. The companies business is constantly changing, and the main thrust of the job is to keep the web site in line with these changes. Other duties will include the creation of new web sites, writing new data-driven features into the web site using PHP and MySQL, updating content, creating graphics, search engine optimisation, and search engine marketing. The role also involves monitoring and reporting web site traffic using Google Analytics and Google Webmaster Tools. Salary Range: £6 - £8 per hour depending on experience. Start date late September 2008.

Working within a structured team of developers you will be responsible for development, deployment and maintenance of our SMS based web application. You will play a key role in the decision making and development life cycle of the evolving product. You therefore need to demonstrate a good technical ability, be able to work within a team and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Being a Microsoft Partner, training will be provided with an expectation to achieve a Microsoft Certification within the first 12 months, cross skilling into both web and database disciplines will also be given.
Ideally you will have a strong computing degree 2:2 or above and can demonstrate knowledge in HTML, JavaScript, Relational DB design and Object oriented design. Preferred skills which will be an advantage will be SQL, XML, VB/C#/ASP.NET. Salary up to £16,000 with benefits.
